3DGP技術可制作更物美價廉的光纖產品

  日前,麻省理工學院MIT媒體實驗室通過與學校的機械工程部門、玻璃實驗室以及哈佛大學維思實驗室合作,創造出了3DGP技術,可用于制作更物美價廉的光纖。

  該技術使用透明的玻璃而不是塑料作為引導材料。這種被稱為3DGP的方法工作起來與傳統3D打印基本相同。研究者發現通過對打印的厚度的精確控制能夠定制光線的穿透率、反射率和折射率。玻璃打印系統使用了兩個堆疊在一起的熱室,位于上方的熱室溫度達到華氏1900度,而下方的熱室則負責給成型結構降溫退火。3DGP技術將來可以用于制作更便宜、更優質的光纖產品。
