激光能讓PC性能翻倍:首先離不開3D晶體管?

按照當下的物理學理論,最快的速度非光速莫屬了。雖然說人類在不少的領域上發(fā)展到了光速的級別,但是目前還沒有應用到半導體上案例。這幾年的搬到也雖然蓬勃發(fā)展,不過材料物理的極限已經(jīng)開始凸顯,制程工藝更新的腳步較幾年前放緩了不少。

最近《自然光子學》雜志刊登了一個新的研究發(fā)現(xiàn):科學家已經(jīng)找到了讓電腦瞬間提升萬倍的秘訣,不過這一切只是停留在理論階段,主要原因在于這種技術需要更小的3D晶體管,而現(xiàn)在半導體行業(yè)的最大瓶頸就是制程工藝發(fā)展緩慢。

激光技術可讓電腦性能提升10萬倍

這項技術不僅需要更小的3D晶體管,它的工作原理也不是依賴電來實現(xiàn),而是激光,它依靠超快速激光脈沖來移動電子。科學家使用硒化鎵晶體作為其半導體,并以飛秒級速度將激光脈沖照射到其中,而對于“光波”電子器件,電荷載流子移動太快,它們不再彼此碰撞,不僅可以提升速度,而且更節(jié)能(還是離不開電)。
